Perrottetia dermapyrrhosa was first described in 2013 after it was discovered in the limestone mountains of northern Thailand. Believed to be present in many primary forests across South East Asia, P. dermaphyrrhosa is a relatively uncommon find that this biologist was always excited to see on a rainforest hike.
